🌊 NOW OPEN: HOMEWORK TUBES ATLANTIS

Our newest and most ambitious location yet.

Homework Tubes Atlantis — partially underwater location in the Bahamas

Located off the coast of Nassau, Bahamas, Homework Tubes Atlantis is the world's first partially underwater homework tube facility. The upper level features 180 standard study pods with ocean views. The lower level descends 12 feet below the surface of the Caribbean Sea, with transparent tubes that allow children to do their homework while surrounded by tropical fish, sea turtles, and the occasional nurse shark.

Homework Tubes Atlantis is perfect for parents who are forced to take their children on vacation but also want to force them to do homework on vacation. Your family gets the beach. Your kids get the tubes. Everyone gets what they deserve.

The Atlantis location features an expanded Victory Slide that launches children directly into a shallow lagoon, a dedicated Underwater Reading Reef with real reef, and a Tube Menu featuring locally sourced Tube of Conch Fritter (market price).

THE HOMEWORK TUBES STORY

From one tube in a garage to 2.4 miles of tubes across the world.

It all started in 1964 on Blossom Hill Road in Los Gatos, California, when retired industrial plumber and amateur dog psychiatrist Sam Grant purchased a vacant fruit packing warehouse and had what he later called "the only good idea I ever had."

Sam had noticed that his own kids did their homework faster when they were inside the large drainage pipes he stored in his yard. He couldn't explain it. Neither could his wife. Their pediatrician said, "I don't think that's true." That was good enough for Sam.

He installed 340 feet of interconnected polyethylene tubes inside the warehouse, placed small desks and battery-powered lamps at various junctions, and opened the doors to the neighborhood. He charged 25 cents per child. Within a week, he had a line around the block. Within two weeks, a second tube had to be added after a child got wedged at a junction for forty-five minutes during peak homework hours. The incident — later known internally as "The First Wedging" — led to the adoption of wider-gauge tubes, which remain the Homework Tubes standard to this day.

By 1978, there were three locations in the Bay Area. By 1992, Homework Tubes had gone national, expanding to twelve states and introducing the Tube Tutor™ intercom system. The original Los Gatos warehouse on Blossom Hill Road is still open — though the tubes are much nicer now, and they've replaced the battery-powered lamps with actual electricity.

HOW THE TUBES WORK

It's as easy as crawl, settle, study, done.

1
🎒

Drop Off

Parents drop kids at the Tube Hatch between 3–5 PM. We scan their backpack and load their assignments into The System™.

2
🔵

Enter the Tubes

Kids pick a color-coded tube based on their subject. Red for math, blue for reading, green for science. They crawl to their study pod.

3
📚

Pod Study Time

Each tube leads to a cozy, lit study pod with a desk, supplies, and a Tube Tutor™ available via intercom for help.

4

Fast Pass & VIP Tubes

Tired of tube traffic? Tube Fast Pass™ holders skip the crawl queue and enter through express tubes with 40% fewer junctions. VIP Tubes are extra wide, climate-controlled, and contain 10% less glass.

5
🎉

Tube Slide Out

When homework is done and verified, kids earn Tube Tokens™ and exit via the celebratory Victory Slide into the pickup zone.

WHAT THE KIDS SAY

We asked real Homework Tubes kids what they think. We did not edit their answers.

"I like Homework Tubes because I like homework and I like tubes."

Magnus
Age 13

"I have gotten lost in the tubes six times this week and that's OK because I have a very big bladder."

Theo
Age 13

"One time I was in the tubes and there was another guy in the tubes and I didn't know if he was doing homework or not, but it turned out he was a guy who actually wandered into the tubes and he got stuck, but he didn't know where he was supposed to go because he was actually looking for an H&R Block because apparently he can't do his taxes, but he thought that maybe he could do his taxes in the tubes, but they have a really strict rule against that and I know that firsthand because when I tried to do some accounting work for my Fortnite TikTok page they told me this is strictly for homework, not for business."

Nolan
Age 13

"I heard that someone got murdered at Homework Tubes because they were blocking a tube. You can't block tubes."

Lucas
Age 11

"I like to crawl outside of the tubes. My favorite part is opening the trap door above the hippo sanctuary."

Brandon
Age 10

"What in the world are you talking about, Dad? This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen in my life. You actually spent time on this? Are you serious? This is what you spend your time doing? Don't you have a job or a family?"

Evie

TUBE SAFETY

Your child's safety is our #1 priority.

⛑️

Complimentary Tube Helmets

All children are offered a certified Tube Helmet™ upon entry to prevent concussions caused by going headfirst into another child at a tube junction. Helmets are also recommended for the trap door sections, where an unexpected drop onto the cement staging area below has been documented on more than one occasion.

🪟

25% Less Glass

Following a comprehensive 2023 tube audit, we are proud to announce that our tubes now contain 25% less glass than they did in 2022. This is an ongoing effort and we hope to continue reducing glass content year over year. We appreciate your patience.

💪

The Broken Glass Tube

The exception to the above. Introduced in 2024, the Broken Glass Tube is a new addition designed for kids who, in the words of the suggestion box entry that inspired it, "need to learn a little bit of toughness." Long pants and closed-toed shoes are required. Waivers are available at the front desk.

🦺

The Buddy System

After The First Wedging of 1964 and several subsequent wedgings throughout the '70s and '80s, all children under 7 are now required to enter the tubes with a designated Tube Buddy. Tube Buddies are assigned at random. Many lasting friendships have been formed this way. Some rivalries, too.

Homework Tubes™ is not responsible for scrapes, bumps, bruises, disorientation, temporary hearing loss from whistles, or emotional distress caused by the Broken Glass Tube. All children tube at their own risk.
